Kayla
\nHarrison<\/a> says recovering from neck surgery left her questioning
\nwhether she would ever feel like herself again.<\/p>\n

The reigning
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> women\u2019s bantamweight champion
\nwithdrew from her scheduled title defense against Amanda
\nNunes<\/a> at
\nUFC 324<\/a> in January to undergo surgery for herniated discs in
\nher neck. On the \u201cDeep Waters\u201d podcast, Harrison discussed the
\nphysical and mental challenges of her recovery.<\/p>\n

Kayla Harrison recalls doubts about feeling like herself again
\nbefore Amanda Nunes title fight at UFC 334<\/h2>\n

Harrison described the operation as the most serious of four
\nsurgeries she has undergone in the past four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel awesome,\u201d Harrison said. \u201cTo be honest, it was rough in the
\nbeginning. I think more just obviously physically, but mentally. It
\nwas such a big surgery and I went ten years without surgery. I had
\nreconstructive knee surgery between my two Olympics and then I went
\nten years with no surgery. But in the last four years, I\u2019ve had
\nfour surgeries, back-to-back-to-back. This one was the most serious
\nand I was kind of like, am I ever going to be OK again? It got to
\nthe point where I was questioning whether I was ever going to feel
\nlike myself again. But I\u2019m back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harrison said she feels ready to return. She is scheduled to face
\nNunes at UFC
\n334<\/a> on Nov. 14 in New York City.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to fight like hell to get through this neck surgery and just
\nmentally to get back to a place of like, \u2018Oh yeah, I am that
\nb*tch,\u2019 and like, this is for me,\u201d Harrison added. \u201cI don\u2019t need
\nmoney. I don\u2019t care; we could do this at ATT [American
\nTop Team<\/a>]. This is just for me. I want to go out there and see
\nwhat I\u2019m made of.\u201d<\/p>\n
