A former One
\nChampionship<\/a> muay Thai titleholder, Sundell pressed forward
\nfrom the opening bell, mixing her strikes to keep Pereira on the
\ndefensive. Her Brazilian opponent found success with counters and
\nscored a takedown in the third round, but Sundell returned to her
\nfeet and resumed applying pressure until the final horn.<\/p>\n

Sundell earned a contract despite UFC CEO Dana
\nWhite<\/a>\u2019s reservations about her readiness. White initially
\nwanted the 21-year-old to gain more experience outside the
\npromotion, but matchmaker Mick Maynard persuaded him to sign
\nher.<\/p>\n

At the postfight news conference, Sundell said that despite her
\nlimited MMA experience, she has competed in combat sports since her
\nearly teens and is ready for the UFC.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been fighting since I was 12,\u201d Sundell said. \u201cI know how it
\nis to fight and I know how it is to get hit. I have been taken
\ndown. I know I belong here.\u201d<\/p>\n
