\nBarnett<\/a> is questioning Misfits\u2019 financial strategy after
\nMichael “Venom” Page<\/a> described his lucrative new contract with the
\npromotion.<\/p>\n

Page said his three-fight deal with MF Sports\u2019 Misfits will pay him
\nmore than he earned across his six bouts in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>. The Englishman claims he will
\nearn seven figures per fight after the UFC opted against renewing
\nhis contract despite his 5-1 promotional record.<\/p>\n

Barnett responded on social media, questioning the accuracy of
\nPage\u2019s claims. The former UFC heavyweight champion warned that such
\nspending could exhaust Misfits\u2019 capital and jeopardize its
\nfuture.<\/p>\n

\u201cEither Page is telling a very bold lie for publicity sake…\u201d
\nBarnett wrote on X. \u201cOr [Misfits] has decided to run the same old
\nformula of: jumping into the MMA market, overspending like mad,
\nburning through all their capital in record speed, and soon to be
\nanother gravestone in the marketplace due to either incompetence or
\nintent to raise and burn capital on the way to fire-sailing what
\nremains (that’d be the IP, library, all those fighter’s contracts)
\nin what amounts to cash grab scam with the skinsuit of making a top
\ntier MMA company\/UFC competitor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barnett cited EliteXC<\/a>,
\nAffliction<\/a>,
\n
\nInternational Fight League<\/a> and
\nWorld Series of Fighting<\/a> as cautionary examples. He warned that
\nfighters could suffer if another promotion exhausted its
\ncapital.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, and it’s the FIGHTERS in the end who truly get screwed
\nover…again,\u201d Barnett added.<\/p>\n
