Pereira (13-4) is scheduled to fight Sergei
\nPavlovich<\/a> (21-3) at UFC
\n335<\/a> on Dec. 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Meanwhile,
\nJosh
\nHokit<\/a> (10-0) will challenge Ciryl Gane<\/a>
\n(14-2) for the heavyweight title at UFC
\n334<\/a> on Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Pereira
\naccused Cormier of promoting Gane vs. Hokit at the UFC\u2019s direction,
\nprompting a response from \u201cDC.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pereira believes he deserved a title rematch against Gane despite
\nbeing stopped by the Frenchman at
\nUFC Freedom 250<\/a> in June. \u201cPoatan\u201d accused Cormier of helping
\nbuild support for Gane vs. Hokit before the matchup was announced.
\nCormier denied that the UFC had instructed him to promote it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlex Pereira and I have built a relationship over the past five
\nyears,\u201d Cormier said on his YouTube channel. \u201cI believe that it\u2019s a
\ngreat relationship and I believe that it\u2019s a friendship. Pereira
\ndid an interview and he said some things. I was not told by the UFC
\nto promote this as the fight to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pereira also recalled a conversation with Cormier before the Gane
\nfight. The Brazilian said he had asked whether beating Gane would
\nmake him the heavyweight champion and that Cormier had answered
\nno.<\/p>\n

Cormier disputed that account, showing a clip from an interview
\nwith Pereira. In it, Pereira asks through his coach and translator,
\nPlinio
\nCruz<\/a>, whether a victory over Gane would make him the greatest
\nof all time. Cormier said Pereira would not yet hold that
\ndistinction but would be part of the discussion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was before the White House card,\u201d Cormier added. \u201cAlex asked
\nme through Plinio if he won, would he be the GOAT\u2026 I didn\u2019t say he
\nwouldn\u2019t be the champ; I said he wouldn\u2019t be the GOAT yet. I
\nshowered Pereira with compliments. Pereira and I have a great
\nrelationship; I hope that doesn\u2019t change. I think he\u2019s a good guy;
\nI think he\u2019s a tremendous fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\ninfluence over him and his request for a title opportunity. To
\nclear things up, I didn\u2019t save those things, and I have always been
\nvery fair to Alex. That said, I believe he\u2019s right to fight again
\nto earn a title opportunity because an immediate rematch wasn\u2019t
\nwarranted. I explained why I believe that. Josh should be fighting
