Carmouche (26-8) and Bishop (11-3) will fight for the inaugural

\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> women\u2019s flyweight world title on
\nOct. 16 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago. Carmouche defeated Bishop in
\nthe 2025 PFL World Tournament final and says she previously
\nsubmitted her during sparring.<\/p>\n

Liz Carmouche recalls emotional sparring session with Jena
\nBishop ahead of PFL Chicago title rematch<\/h2>\n

According to Carmouche, Bishop visited her gym as a guest sparring
\npartner when both were training in San Diego. Carmouche said she
\nwelcomed the challenge of grappling with Bishop, an established
\njiu-jitsu black belt.<\/p>\n

Carmouche described Bishop as initially reluctant to engage but
\naggressive once the session began. She said Bishop cried after
\nbeing submitted, a reaction that surprised her given the intensity
\nof the sparring.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe finally came over, and I was excited\u2026 Here’s somebody who’s
\nbeen a black belt since 2013,\u201d Carmouche told Ariel Helwani.
\n\u201cMMA-wise, I don\u2019t think at that point I had trained with a black
\nbelt in MMA sparring\u2026 I was like, man, this is going to be a good
\nchallenge. I’m going to get messed up on the ground. I’m inviting
\nit. I like challenging people in their strong suits, and if I get
\noutworked, that means I have room for growth\u2026 She was being super
\ndodgy and finally she was kind of pushed to get into it. Definitely
\ncame out wanting to go super hard and being really aggressive. Then
\nwhen on the ground, I had a chance to submit her, and she cried
\nthat she lost\u2026 Seeing her crying just definitely seemed like that
\nwas a little bit too emotional for somebody that was going that
\nhard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carmouche enters
\nPFL Chicago<\/a> on a four-fight winning streak. Bishop has
\nrebounded with two consecutive submission victories since losing to
\nCarmouche last year.<\/p>\n
