\nOliveira<\/a> is targeting a shot at the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> lightweight title after his next
\nbout.<\/p>\n

Oliveira is scheduled to defend his BMF title against Diego Lopes<\/a>
\nat UFC
\n335<\/a> on Dec. 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While preparing
\nfor that matchup, \u201cdo Bronxs\u201d has weighed in on the lightweight
\ntitle picture and the future of reigning champion Justin
\nGaethje<\/a>, whom he previously defeated.<\/p>\n

Charles Oliveira sees Arman Tsarukyan as possible vacant-title
\nopponent if Justin Gaethje retires after UFC 335<\/h2>\n

Oliveira acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Gaethje\u2019s future
\nin an interview with Sherdog. He said the UFC needs to establish
\nwhether \u201cThe Highlight\u201d intends to defend his title. Gaethje has
\ndiscussed retirement and a potential bout against Conor
\nMcGregor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first step is for the UFC to sit down with Gaethje and find
\nout exactly what he plans to do,\u201d Oliveira told Sherdog\u2019s Marcelo
\nAlonso. \u201cHe says he won\u2019t fight this year, but that he would if it
\nwere against Conor. Then he starts talking about retirement. If I
\nget past Diego, I think my name carries weight, and I believe I\u2019ll
\nbe next in line for a shot at the undisputed title.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oliveira acknowledged that Arman
\nTsarukyan<\/a> also deserves a title shot and envisioned a rematch
\nagainst \u201cThe Batman\u201d if Gaethje vacates the belt.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, Arman deserves it too,\u201d Oliveira added. \u201cBut I think
\nthe first step is for the UFC to find out whether Gaethje is
\nretiring or continuing to fight. If he doesn\u2019t retire, it could be
\nArman or me against Gaethje. If he retires, then it\u2019s me and Arman
\nfighting for the vacant title.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oliveira also addressed criticism that his grappling-heavy victory
\nover Max
\nHolloway<\/a> in his last bout did not suit the BMF title. The
\nformer UFC lightweight champion said he is unbothered by public
\nopinion and focused on winning. He also argued that no one had
\nneutralized Holloway as effectively as he did.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who truly understands fighting, with all due respect to
\nMax, knows that what I did to him is something no other fighter has
\ndone,\u201d Oliveira added. \u201cI completely neutralized his game. So, I
\ndon\u2019t care what people say. At the end of the day, all I care about
\nis whether my Sherdog record shows a win or a loss. I\u2019m fighting
\nmore strategically, with greater awareness and without doing
