\nDvalishvili<\/a> says he realized early in his rematch against
\nPetr
\nYan<\/a> that he was going to lose.<\/p>\n

Dvalishvili (21-5) defeated Yan (20-5) in their first meeting in
\n2023 and won the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> bantamweight title in September
\n2024. The Georgian was a heavy favorite when he defended his belt
\nin their rematch at
\nUFC 323<\/a> last December.<\/p>\n

However, Yan thwarted Dvalishvili\u2019s takedown attempts and outstruck
\nhim to earn a unanimous decision. Ahead of their trilogy bout, \u201cThe
\nMachine\u201d has revisited the rematch, saying he knew as early as the
\nsecond round that he wasn\u2019t going to win.<\/p>\n

Yan is scheduled to defend his title against Dvalishvili at

\nUFC 333<\/a> on Oct. 24 at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The challenger
\nsaid a failed takedown in the second round left him doubting his
\nchances of winning their previous encounter.<\/p>\n

Once he realized he couldn\u2019t impose his grappling on Yan,
\nDvalishvili said, he focused on enjoying the fight.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the second round, I came back planning to take him down,\u201d
\nDvalishvili said in an interview with Paramount+. \u201cI shot and I
\nreally tried and he again defended my takedown. In 10 seconds, all
\nmy energy came out. And then I was like, \u2018What now? I don\u2019t think I
\ncan take him down and I\u2019m gonna have a good fight.\u2019 And then I was
\njust fighting\u2026 I was striking with him; he got me. And then, second
\nround, I tried to take him down; I wasn\u2019t able to. I was like,
\n\u2018F*ck no, what should I do now?\u2019 And then I was just having fun. I
\nsaid, \u2018I’m gonna have fun and I\u2019m gonna enjoy the fight.\u2019 I
\nrealized in the second fight that I was not going to win the fight
\nand I was just going to enjoy the fight.\u201d<\/p>\n
