White suggested there were reasons beyond the<br \/>\nunbeaten bantamweight\u2019s results for the decision not to renew his<br \/>\ncontract, prompting a response.<\/p>\n<h2>Farid Basharat denies refusing UFC fights, cites Victor Hugo<br \/>\nweight miss and torn MCL<\/h2>\n<p>The UFC did not offer Basharat (16-0) a new contract despite his<br \/>\n7-0 promotional record. After White raised difficulties with<br \/>\nmatchmakers and declined fights as possible reasons for such<br \/>\ndepartures, \u201cFerocious\u201d reiterated that he had never turned down an<br \/>\nopponent and cited instances in which he competed under unfavorable<br \/>\ncircumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Basharat pointed to his victory over Victor Hugo, who weighed 145.5<br \/>\npounds for their originally scheduled bantamweight bout in 2024 \u2014<br \/>\n9.5 pounds above the non-title limit. He also said he competed with<br \/>\na torn medial collateral ligament in his knee during his <a rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sherdog.com\/organizations\/Dana-Whites-Contender-Series-12411\"><br \/>\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a> appearance in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe kind of alluded to, maybe I was turning down fights, or maybe I<br \/>\nwas difficult to deal with,\u201d Basharat said on Instagram. \u201cI<br \/>\ndefinitely didn\u2019t turn nobody down. In fact, we\u2019re talking about<br \/>\nthe same guy that, in Abu Dhabi, I fought in 2024; my opponent<br \/>\nmissed weight by 10 pounds and I still went ahead with the fight\u2026<br \/>\nStill put on a good show and won.
