Muhammad
\nMokaev<\/a> believes the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> is unfairly damaging fighters\u2019
\ncareers.<\/p>\n

The UFC has drawn criticism for declining to renew the contracts of
\nfighters on winning streaks. Mokaev claims some athletes have been
\nwarned to change their wrestling-heavy styles or risk losing their
\nroster spots, raising questions about the fairness and competitive
\nimplications of such an approach.<\/p>\n

Farid
\nBasharat<\/a> (16-0) recently completed his contract and wasn\u2019t
\noffered a new deal despite going 7-0 in the promotion. UFC CEO
\nDana
\nWhite<\/a> suggested that difficulties with matchmakers or declined
\nfights could explain such departures without identifying a specific
\nincident involving Basharat. Mokaev believes those comments can
\ndamage fighters\u2019 reputations and prospects after leaving the
\nUFC.<\/p>\n

The former UFC fighter questioned whether warnings about fighting
\nstyles improperly influence competition. He also urged the
\npromotion to avoid making disparaging claims about departing
\nathletes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen fighters are getting phone calls from bosses telling them,
\n\u2018If you keep wrestling like that, you\u2019re going to get cut,\u2019 then
\nyou\u2019re basically telling fighters how you want them to fight. At
\nwhat point does that cross the line?\u201d Mokaev posted on X. \u201cIsn\u2019t
\nthat influencing the competition? And if you want to release a
\nfighter, fine. But don\u2019t then publicly say he was \u2018hard to deal
\nwith\u2019 or create some bullsh*t narrative about him that could damage
\nhis reputation and make other organizations think twice about
\nsigning him. Release fighters if you want. Just don\u2019t try to damage
\ntheir careers on the way out.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mokaev (17-0, 1 NC) left the UFC after the promotion declined to
\nrenew his contract following a victory over Manel Kape<\/a>
\nin July 2024. The unbeaten former UFC flyweight has since earned
\nfour victories outside the organization.<\/p>\n
