Cub
\nHawkins<\/a> has more wins inside BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing\u2019s Trigon
\nthan any other fighter. The 28-year-old Chicago native, one of 13
\nchildren, has captured championships at 175 and 185 pounds, most
\nrecently beating
\nProfessional Fighters League<\/a> and
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> veteran Jesse
\nRonson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hawkins, nicknamed The Savage, holds a bare-knuckle boxing record
\nof 10-1, with nine victories by knockout or technical knockout.<\/p>\n

Cub Hawkins discusses Rowdy Legend Montgomery matchup and his
\nusual training approach for BKB Biloxi<\/h2>\n

His next challenge is Rowdy Legend Montgomery. At 6-foot-2,
\nMontgomery has a 6-inch height advantage over the 5-foot-8
\nHawkins. The two will meet in a nontitle bout at 160 pounds at Bally\u2019s
\nFightnight by BKB on Friday, Oct. 23, at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
\nBiloxi in Mississippi.<\/p>\n

Hawkins isn\u2019t spending much time studying Montgomery.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t really know anything about him,\u201d he told Sherdog.com. \u201cI
\njust know I’m going to show up and, you know, do what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawkins and his team haven\u2019t developed a specific strategy for
\nMontgomery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just get ready for our fight and just train how we usually
\ntrain.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawkins remains confident about the outcome.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, with me getting my hand raised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bare-knuckle boxing has been a good fit for Hawkins.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it’s a mental game \u2013 whoever’s stronger. And that’s what I
\nlike.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also recognizes the risk of injuring his hands when landing
\npunches.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know how much power I throw, and that’s just something you’ve
\ngot to look out for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hawkins prepared under head coach Jesse Brock<\/a>,
\na Bellator
\nMMA<\/a>,
\nResurrection Fighting Alliance<\/a> and
\nWorld Series of Fighting<\/a> veteran. His primary sparring partners
\nwere professional fighters Raymond
\nLawley<\/a> and Andrew Cruz<\/a>,
\nwho also coaches at SBG
\nIdaho<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Potential matchups between fighters from BKB and rival promotion
\nBKFC intrigue some fans, but Hawkins doubts such crossover bouts
\nwill happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey would never do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, he envisions a bright future with his current
\npromotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m the champ and so that’s the goal \u2013 to stay the champ.\u201d<\/p>\n
