Volkanovski (29-4) stopped previously unbeaten Movsar
\nEvloev<\/a> (20-1) at 4:54 of the second round Saturday to retain
\nthe
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> featherweight title. The
\nAustralian champion said he was ill entering the fight but
\ndelivered a bonus-winning finish to hand Evloev his first
\nprofessional defeat.<\/p>\n

Volkanovski recorded his seventh successful title defense across
\ntwo reigns in the
\nUFC 333<\/a> headliner. Afterward, \u201cThe Great\u201d emphasized that while
\nhe appreciates being a champion, overcoming challenges means more
\nto him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels good,\u201d Volkanovski said in a postfight interview. \u201cAgain,
\nI don’t really care about this, like I really don’t. I just care
\nabout, again, overcoming challenges. A guy who was undefeated in
\nfront of me, to overcome that and beat him\u2026 And again, getting
\nthrough camps, you know, and all that. There’s so many challenges
\nthat come with this sport and overcoming them is what really
\nexcites me. So, that means so much more to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the postfight news conference, Volkanovski described his illness
\nas another obstacle he welcomed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s all good, it’s a part of the game,\u201d Volkanovski said. \u201cI
\nstarted getting sick, I was like, \u2018It would’ve been too easy if I
\nwasn’t sick.\u2019 No matter what hurdles are in front of me, this sh*t
\nexcites me.\u201d<\/p>\n
