Volkanovski defended his 145-pound title by stopping previously
\nunbeaten Movsar
\nEvloev<\/a> in the main event of UFC 333 on Saturday at Etihad Arena
\non Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Volkanovski
\n(29-4) staggered his challenger with punches during an exchange
\nnear the fence and immediately pressed his advantage.<\/p>\n

Petr Yan beats Merab Dvalishvili in UFC 333 trilogy as both
\nchampions retain titles<\/h2>\n

Volkanovski swarmed Evloev (20-1) with punches, continuing his
\nattack as the Russian dropped to his hands and knees. Referee
\nMarc
\nGoddard<\/a> intervened at 4:54 of the second round.<\/p>\n

The highly anticipated rubber match between Petr Yan<\/a> and
\nMerab
\nDvalishvili<\/a> delivered five compelling rounds, with Yan
\nretaining his bantamweight title by unanimous decision.<\/p>\n

Dvalishvili (21-6) attacked from the opening seconds, scoring
\nmultiple takedowns and keeping the champion under pressure.
\nHowever, he struggled to hold Yan down. As the fight progressed,
\n\u201cNo Mercy\u201d began stuffing takedowns and landing punches and kicks
\nto the head and body.<\/p>\n

A liver kick hurt Dvalishvili in the third, and Yan (21-5)
\nincreasingly found opportunities to attack as the challenger
\nslowed. Both men pushed hard in the final round, but Yan\u2019s takedown
\ndefense and crisp striking helped secure the victory. All three
\njudges scored the fight 48-47 for the champion.<\/p>\n

Lone’er
\nKavanagh<\/a> battered Ramazonbek
\nTemirov<\/a> en route to a first-round stoppage. Kavanagh (11-2)
\nlanded a counter left uppercut during an exchange, sending the
\nUzbek fighter stumbling backward. The Englishman pursued him with
\npunches to the head and body until Temirov (20-4) collapsed, ending
\nthe flyweight bout at 4:28.<\/p>\n

Russian heavyweight contender Alexander
\nVolkov<\/a> strengthened his case for a title shot with a unanimous
\ndecision over Rizvan
\nKuniev<\/a>. \u201cDrago\u201d used his reach to attack Kuniev (14-4-1, 1 NC)
\nfrom the outside, targeting his legs, body and head throughout the
\nthree-round contest. Volkov improved to 41-11 with scores of 30-27,
\n30-27 and 29-28.<\/p>\n

Featherweight contender Aaron Pico<\/a>
\nstopped Losene
\nKeita<\/a> in just 74 seconds. Pico (15-5) staggered \u201cBlack Panther\u201d
\nwith a right cross behind a left jab. When Keita (17-3) stumbled to
\nthe canvas, Pico followed with short punches to prompt the
\nstoppage.<\/p>\n

Former light heavyweight title challenger Dominick
\nReyes<\/a> continued his resurgence with a first-round stoppage of
\nAzamat
\nMurzakanov<\/a>. Reyes (17-5) maintained his distance with leg kicks
\nbefore landing a head kick and a straight left that dropped
\nMurzakanov (16-2). Follow-up punches brought referee Mike Beltran\u2019s
\nintervention at 2:40.<\/p>\n

Unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Abdul-Rakhman
\nYakhyaev<\/a> made another statement by finishing veteran Nikita
\nKrylov<\/a> in the first round. After an unsuccessful choke attempt,
\nYakhyaev (11-0) landed a knee to the side of Krylov\u2019s head against
\nthe cage. Krylov (31-13) went limp, and follow-up punches prompted
\nreferee Jason Herzog to intervene at 2:38.<\/p>\n

\nMagomedov<\/a> made quick work of fellow middleweight Cam Rowston.
\nMagomedov secured a guillotine during Rowston\u2019s takedown attempt
\nand maintained the choke through his opponent\u2019s efforts to escape.
\nRowston (15-4) lost consciousness, giving Magomedov (30-7-1) the
\ntechnical submission victory at 1:44 of the first round.<\/p>\n

Grant
\nDawson<\/a> handed Nurullo
\nAliev<\/a> his first defeat, winning a unanimous decision in their
\nlightweight contest. Aliev lost a point in the opening round for
\nrepeated blows to the back of the head, while Dawson\u2019s striking and
\nground work carried him through the remaining two frames. All three
\njudges scored it 29-27 for Dawson (25-3-1), while Aliev fell to
\n12-1.<\/p>\n

Colby
\nThicknesse<\/a> overcame the odds to defeat Asaf
\nChopurov<\/a> by split decision in their bantamweight matchup.
\nChopurov (11-1) scored multiple takedowns, but Thicknesse answered
\nwith impactful strikes. One judge favored Chopurov 29-28, while the
\nother two returned the same score for Thicknesse, who improved to
\n10-1.<\/p>\n

Abubakar
\nVagaev<\/a> edged Australian Jacob
\nMalkoun<\/a> by unanimous decision in a closely contested
\nmiddleweight bout. Malkoun worked behind a stiff jab, while Vagaev
\n(26-4) answered with power punches and takedowns. All three judges
\nscored it 29-28 for Vagaev, dropping Malkoun to 10-4.<\/p>\n

Brazil\u2019s Daniel
\nSantos<\/a> (15-3) prevailed over Belgian counterpart Bolaji Oki<\/a>
\n(10-5) by unanimous decision in a competitive featherweight
\ncontest. All three judges scored the fight 29-28.<\/p>\n

Kody
\nSteele<\/a> improved to 9-1 with a first-round technical knockout of
\nfellow lightweight Noah Gugnon<\/a>
\n(10-3). Steele dropped the Frenchman with punches and followed him
\nto the canvas before referee Saman Amidi intervened at 3:54.<\/p>\n

Iasmin
\nLucindo<\/a> (19-6) dominated Nicolle
\nCaliari<\/a> (9-5) over three rounds to open the card, winning 30-27
\non all three scorecards. Their scheduled strawweight bout proceeded
