\nin an interview with Mundo da Luta<\/a>
\nthat he was devastated after being told he would not get an
\nopportunity to avenge the loss.<\/p>\n

Jose Aldo explains why he believed a Conor McGregor rematch was
\nimpossible after UFC 194<\/h2>\n

Aldo expected an immediate rematch after losing at MGM Grand Garden
\nArena in Las Vegas. However, he said Dana White told him backstage
\nthat McGregor intended to move up to lightweight because making the
\n145-pound limit had become too difficult.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cried a lot because, in my mind, after I lost, I thought, \u2018F**k,
\nthere\u2019s going to be a rematch because I was a dominant champion,\u2019\u201d
\nAldo said. \u201cUp until that point, I was the first and only
\nfeatherweight champion in history. So, in my mind, I thought,
\n\u2018There\u2019s going to be a rematch, I\u2019m going to fight him again, and
\nit\u2019s going to be a whole new story.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone thinks I was crying because I lost. No, I was crying
\nbecause I knew we weren\u2019t going to fight again. There was no way
\nfor me to get that win back, you know?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Aldo continued to call for a rematch over the following years, but
\nthe two never fought again. The Brazilian won the interim
\nfeatherweight title in July 2016 and was elevated to undisputed
\nchampion that November. He later moved to bantamweight.<\/p>\n

Despite their history, Aldo has developed a friendlier relationship
\nwith McGregor. He has also publicly supported the Irishman\u2019s
\nrecovery from his recent knee injury, expressing hope that his
\nformer rival can return to competition.<\/p>\n
