\nfor a featherweight title shot, according to Alexander
\nVolkanovski<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The reigning champion considers Silva a leading contender for a
\nshot at 145-pound gold in the
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a>, but believes Sterling could
\nstrengthen his case by beating Kevin
\nVallejos<\/a> at
\nUFC Qatar<\/a> on Nov. 21.<\/p>\n

Why Alexander Volkanovski thinks Aljamain Sterling can earn the
\nnext featherweight title shot<\/h2>\n

Volkanovski said Sterling would be more deserving with another
\nvictory, while a defeat would leave Silva as his preferred
\ncontender.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we’re talking about who deserves it more, I’m gonna say
\nAljo,\u201d Volkanovski told Ariel Helwani. \u201cEspecially after another
\nwin, taking a fight against a dangerous guy like Kevin. It is
\nreally up to that fight, I believe. Silva\u2019s in a great position; I
\nthink he needs to just wait and see what happens with Aljo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volkanovski (29-4) retained the featherweight title against
\nMovsar
\nEvloev<\/a> (20-1), stopping the previously unbeaten Russian in the
\nsecond round of the
\nUFC 333<\/a> main event on Oct. 24 in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n

After losing the bantamweight title to Sean
\nO’Malley<\/a>, Sterling (26-5) beat Calvin
\nKattar<\/a> in his featherweight debut. He then lost a decision to
\nEvloev before rebounding with victories over Brian
\nOrtega<\/a> and Youssef
\nZalal<\/a>. Meanwhile, Silva (17-3) has finished six of his seven
\nUFC victories, with his lone promotional defeat coming against
\nDiego
\nLopes<\/a>. He joined the organization after earning a contract on
\n
\nDana White\u2019s Contender Series<\/a>.<\/p>\n
