\nNolan<\/a> scored the biggest win of his blossoming MMA career,
\nstopping veteran Renato
\nCarneiro<\/a> in the third round in the main event of
\nUFC Vegas 123<\/a> inside the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. However, the
\nwin wasn\u2019t without controversy.<\/p>\n

Carneiro (21-8-1) dominated much of the first two rounds, scoring
\ntakedowns and constantly threatening Nolan\u2019s neck with rear-naked
\nchoke attempts and strikes from the back. Nolan couldn\u2019t free
\nhimself from the position, and late in the second, with the
\nBrazilian again on Nolan\u2019s back, landing punches and elbows and
\nthreatening with the choke, the crowd began booing. Longtime
\nreferee Dan Miraglioota inexplicably intervened and stood the
\nfighters up, forcing “Moicano” to lose a dominant position.<\/p>\n

From there, Nolan (12-1) landed a knee to Carneiro\u2019s face, badly
\nrocking him. The Aussie nearly knocked “Moicano” out, but the
\nBrazilian survived the round. Unfortunately for Carneiro, his head
\nwasn\u2019t clear to start the third, and Nolan capitalized. \u201cBig Train\u201d
\nlanded dozens of punches, knocked his lightweight foe down, and
\nthen
\nfinished him off with strikes<\/a> at 1:28 of the third.

Jacobe
\nSmith<\/a> took on Randy Brown<\/a>
\n(20-9) on short notice, and it paid off. Smith (14-0) remained
\nunbeaten as he ground out a unanimous decision win over three
\nrounds at welterweight in the co-main event. Smith scored multiple
\ntakedowns and landed dozens of punches and elbows to Brown\u2019s head,
\nwinning every round. All three judges favored Smith, with scores of
\n30-26. Cody
\nDurden<\/a> had a battle on his hands against Ode
\nOsbourne<\/a> as the flyweights largely grappled for three rounds,
\nbut Durden\u2019s early aggression paved the way for victory. Durden
\n(19-11-1) scored multiple takedowns and threatened submissions in
\nthe first two rounds, only to fend off Osbourne\u2019s sub threats in
\nthe third. In the end, all three judges saw it 29-28 for Durden;
\nOsbourne sank to 13-10.<\/p>\n

Luana
\nSantos<\/a> used superior takedown ability and controlled most of
\nthe bantamweight contest on the ground to earn a unanimous decision
\nover Yana Santos<\/a>.
\nLuana (12-2) threatened with submission attempts multiple times in
\nrounds two and three, but Yana (17-9-, 1 NC) fended them all off.
\nAll three judges scored it 29-28 for Luana.<\/p>\n

Jean-Paul
\nLebosnoyani<\/a> took another step up the welterweight ladder as he
\nbattered and sliced up Farman
\nHasanov<\/a>, scoring a TKO in the third from severe lacerations.
\nLebosnoyani (12-2) landed dozens of punches and kicks to the head
\nand body, but Hasanov (5-1) was as tough as leather and never
\nstopped swinging for the fences. However, referee Dan Miragliotta
\npaused the action in the final round to have Hasanov\u2019s cuts
\nexamined, and it
\nwas determined they were too severe<\/a>, ending the fight at the
\n2:11 mark.<\/p>\n

Featherweight contender Dakota Hope<\/a>
\neked past Francis
\nMarshall<\/a> to nab his first-ever win inside the Octagon. Hope
\n(12-2) rallied in the second half with sheer aggression and more
\npressure to win the bout by split decision. Hope won 29-28 on two
\nofficial scorecards, while one card gave Marshall (10-4) the win
\n29-28.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo
\nSezinando<\/a> scored a TKO at the end of the second round when the
\ncageside doctor felt a nasty cut on Theodor
\nBerggren<\/a>\u2019s upper lip was too severe. Sezinando (9-2) landed a
\nvicious elbow from on top near the end of the second, which busted
\n\u201cSimba\u2019s\u201d
\nlip wide open<\/a>e. But before the third could begin, referee Kerry
\nHatley took the doctor\u2019s advice and ended the fight. Berggren fell
\nto 8-5.<\/p>\n

Longtime veteran Julian
\nErosa<\/a> was fabulous in his farewell fight, starching
\nfeatherweight adversary Jeong Yeong
\nLee<\/a> in just 91 seconds. Lee (11-4) hurt Erosa when he erupted
\nwith strikes as soon as the fight began, but \u201cJuicy J\u201d weathered
\nthe storm and returned fire. When he did, \u201cThe Korean Tiger\u201d was
\n
\ndropped by an overhand right to the face<\/a> and from there, Erosa
\n(32-13) landed follow-up punches until referee Chris Tognoni pulled
\nhim off.<\/p>\n

Zachary
\nReese<\/a> was too much for Mickey Gall<\/a>
\nto handle as he easily toppled him via unanimous decision in their
\nthree-round middleweight affair. Reese (11-4) controlled the pace
\nand landed the better strikes, winning from scores of 30-27
\n(thrice). Gall dipped to 7-8.<\/p>\n

Middleweight contender Joseph
\nKropschot<\/a> made a statement in his UFC debut as he became the
\nfirst to submit Nick Klein<\/a>
\nin MMA. Klein (6-4) tried to secure a rear-naked choke early in the
\nsecond, but Kropschot (10-3) scrambled out and locked in a
\nslick inverted triangle armbar<\/a>. Kelin tapped out at 1:25 of the
\nsecond.<\/p>\n

In a strawweight battle, Piera
\nRodriguez<\/a> prevailed via unanimous decision over Talita
\nAlencar<\/a> (8-2-1). Each round was about as close as they come,
\nwith both women landing solid strikes, but the three cageside
\njudges favored Rodriguez (13-2) 30-27 across the board.<\/p>\n

Lucia
\nSzabova<\/a> was impressive in her UFC debut as she wore down and
\ntook out fellow flyweight Tainara
\nLisboa<\/a> in the third. After dragging Lisboa (7-5) to the canvas
\naround the midway point of the final round, the Russian unloaded
\n
\na steady ground-and-pound attack to force the referee stoppage<\/a>.
\nThe end came at 3:20 of the third, allowing Szabova to improve to
