Dana
\nWhite<\/a> has addressed veteran referee Dan Miragliotta\u2019s
\ncontroversial stand-up in the Renato
\n\u201cMoney\u201d Moicano<\/a> vs. Tom Nolan<\/a>
\nbout.<\/p>\n

Moicano suffered a third-round stoppage loss to Nolan at
\nUFC Vegas 123<\/a> on Oct. 31. However, the fight was marred by
\ncontroversy when Miragliotta stood the fighters up for inactivity
\nwhile Moicano had Nolan\u2019s back in the second round. While it\u2019s very
\nrare for a referee to intervene when a fighter has his opponent\u2019s
\nback, White defended Miragliotta\u2019s call.<\/p>\n

Why Dana White believes Dan Miragliotta made the right
\ncall<\/h2>\n

The
\nUltimate Fighting Championship<\/a> CEO says that, under the
\nruleset, damage is the key factor in stand-ups, not holding
\nposition. White notes that some grapplers can ride their opponent\u2019s
\nback for three rounds and says the referee is right to intervene if
\nthe fighter in a dominant position isn\u2019t trying to land damage or
\nadvance position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s about dominant position,\u201d White said during a
\nmedia scrum captured by TheMacLife. \u201cIt\u2019s about, are you doing
\ndamage or not, trying to win the fight? Some of these guys are so
\ngood, they can f*cking take your back and ride it out for three
\nrounds. The rules are, if you’re not doing damage or trying to
\nadvance your position, or trying to win the fight, you get stood
\nup.\u201d<\/p>\n
